Example 3  The next two notes are on the 3rd string. In this example, and in the next two examples, the fretted notes are on the 2nd fret. Alternate between the open 3rd string and the 3rd string at the 2nd fret.

1 -- Pick the open 3rd string. ('Open' means no fingers on the frets.) Let this note ring for a moment.

2 -- Place your finger on the 3rd string at the 2nd fret.

3 -- Pick the 3rd string. Let the note ring for a moment.

4 -- Remove your finger from the string.
