Let Greg Varhaug show you a different way to approach music and the guitar.
JRMB126 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over open A / E / D / E chord progression. Mixture of rhythm guitar, and chord-melody figures. Based on picking patterns over open A, E and D chords. (Easy) JRMB127 Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over open A / E / D / E chord progression. Mixture of rhythm guitar, and chord-melody figures. Continuation of variations in JRMB126. More advanced chord melody and lead figures towards the end. (Easy - Intermediate) JRMB128 Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over open D / A / E / E chord progression. Mixture of chord-melody and lead figures. Open with chord-melody riffs using the suspended 4 forms for each chord. Then it breaks into lead and chord melody patterns. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB129 Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D / A / G progression. Lead and chord-melody lines. Like a lot of the jams in this series, based on styles of Clapton and Duane Allman. Based on major pentatonic, and on the standard note-orders described in the lesson sections of this site. (Advanced) JRMB130 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. Similar Clapton/Allman feel. Also uses some note-orders borrowed from the late, great 'Sneaky Pete' Kleinow, mixed in with sliding 6th figures. (Advanced) JRMB131 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. Lead guitar and chord melody. Continuation of some of the ideas used in the previous two jam videos. Some 'Brown Eyed Girl' style sliding thirds towards the end. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB132 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D / A / E / E progression. Contiuation of the lead and chord melody ideas based on styles of Clapton / Allman / Kleinow. A few Scruggs style banjo rolls adapted for guitar, a topic cover in the lesson section. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB133 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - A - G progression. Switching to a hotter lead sound, a light Marshall distortion. Really trying to channel Duane in this one. I took a couple of opportunities to demonstrate Allman-style variations over the major pentatonic and major scale. Switches to minor 'blues' pentatonic for awhile towards the end, then back to major. All about the interplay between major and minor. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB134 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A - G - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. Really trying to channel Clapton in this one. Single lines, lots of sliding ring finger pentatonic. Later on, some Berry via Clapton-style blues double string bends. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB135 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A - G - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. More Clapton / Allman style ideas. Including a few structured variations. A little slower leads than the previous two. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB136 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over Em - A - C - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. Trying to thing more Wishbone Ash, though I don't know how close I really got. A few structured variations. A little slower leads than some of the previous jams. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB137 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over Em - A - C - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous jam video. This time with even slower lines. Some nice long, slow bending notes. Uses the whole range of the guitar neck, from high to low and back to the middle. (Intermediate) JRMB138 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over Em - A - C - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous jam video. This time with even slower lines. Some nice long, slow bending notes. Uses the whole range of the guitar neck, from high to low and back to the middle. (Intermediate) JRMB139 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over Em - A - C - D progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous two jam videos. Starts off in the same vein as the last video, same backing groove. Still imitating Wishbone Ash, Free. (Intermediate) JRMB140 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C add 9 - G progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous two jam videos, but this time over a different progression. Going for that classic 70s lead sound over a classic 70s chord groove. JRMB141 -- Medium Rock -- Am / D progression. The first of the Jam Room videos with a 2-chord progression. Just goes to show what you can do with only two chords. Showcases long flowing lead lines. Shades of Santana, Floyd. Easy tempo. This one runs longer than some of the others, allowing more room to stretch out. (Intermediate) JRMB142 -- Medium Rock -- Am / G progression. Lead jam using a light Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous jam video. Lots of slides and slow bending notes. I'm thinking The Ash and Dave Mason. (Intermediate) JRMB143 -- Medium Rock / Country -- Am / G progression. Same background groove as the last. This one open up with chord melody, then eases into a more country/blues lead style. Slicker, more notes that the last track. Even some jazzy stuff in the middle. Some of my favorite pet note orders. (Advanced) JRMB144 -- Medium Rock / Country -- A / D progression. Opens with chord melody, using full chords, then moving to some modified banjo rolls. Sliding ring finger pentatonic, settling into a country/blues feel. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB145 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Taking a more minimal approach to this. Easy leads and droning chord melody passages. Leaving lots of space for you to take the lead. (Easy - Intermediate) JRMB146 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Continuation of the droning chord melody ideas used in the last video. I'm trying to include enough repetition that you can follow some of the main themes. (Easy - Intermediate) JRMB147 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Further continuation of chord melody ideas for this very common progression. More complicated, more synchopated, more weaving. (Intermediate) JRMB148 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Slightly different background track this time. Clean tone leads based on major and major pentatonic scales. Brief samples of minor blues tonalities, but quickly resolving back to the major. (Advanced) JRMB149 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Minimalist compared to most in this series. Slow chord melody lines. (Intermediate) JRMB150 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Same progression again. More chord melody ideas, more complicated than the previous. Mostly mid to high register stuff. (Intermediate) JRMB151 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression - but this time with a twist. Light distorted lead jam. Mostly slower note, but with a hot blues tone. Some cool double string bends. (Intermediate) JRMB152 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. Lead jam using a medium Marshall distortion. A continuation of the ideas in the previous jam video. Opens with double string bends, giving over to single lines and chord melody mix. Very major, not blusey. (Intermediate) JRMB153 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression. a continuation of some of the ideas from the previous two videos. Includes 6th runs, and pedal steel -- style double string bends. (Intermediate) JRMB154 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D - C - G progression - Opens with sixth runs, and three string chord melody figures. Very few single lines. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB155 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over D / A / C / G progression. Clapton style lead jam with medium Marshall distortion. Just about all the single lines. The usual double string bends and 6th and 3rd runs. a few chord melody figures toward the end. (Intermediate - Advanced) JRMB156 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over E / D / A / D progression. Generic blues rock lead guitar, using another medium Marshall distortion. A continuation of some of the ideas in the previous example. A little slower, and a little more understated than the previous example. I have deliberately repeated some simple themes so you can follow along more easily. (Intermediate) JRMB157 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over E / D / A / D progression. Opens with chord melody jam. Then moves to open E minor pentatonic and blues scale figures. (Intermediate) JRMB158 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over E / D / A / D progression. Demonstrates a common rhythm and blues, and Motown chord melody riff used in thousands of songs. More recently, this riff has been adopted by country players -- you've heard it a hundred times. Ends with slick single-line slighting pentatonic riffs. (Intermediate) JRMB159 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. Begins with slow modified banjo riffs. Ends with three-string chord melody weaving, moving freely between two--string and three--string figures. Using sliding sixths and thirds, and sliding ring finger pentatonic figures for transitions up and down the neck. (Advanced) JRMB160 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. Begins with single strums over the A, E and D barre chords. then, gradually morphs into a chord melody improvisation. Many of these figures work well as either lead guitar, rhythm guitar or both. Examples of the many gray areas between lead guitar and rhythm guitar. Understated compared to some of the others. (Intermediate) JRMB161 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. More riffs that work for both rhythm and lead guitar. Low- register blues chord melody. Opens with low chord melody figures based on blues 5-6 figures. Good examples of the kinds of variations you can play using 5-6's based on open E, A and D. (Intermediate) JRMB162 -- Rock / Country Ballad -- Jam over A / E / D / E progression. A continuation of the ideas from the previous video. This video repeats the same open 5-6 pattern throughout. No leads, this is a rhythm guitar only video. Practice the rhythm part along with me, or jam out on your own. (Intermediate) JRMB500 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB501 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB502 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB503 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB504 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB505 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB506 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB507 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB508 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB509 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB510 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'A' JRMB511 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'A' JRMB512 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'B' JRMB513 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB514 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB515 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB516 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB517 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB518 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'E' JRMB519 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'A' JRMB520 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'G' JRMB521 -- Blues / Rock -- 12 bar blues progression in 'G' |
